From Cicero, IL. At home everywhere.
My name is Angel Dominguez, a first-generation college student in my 4th year at Dominican University, as a Digital Journalism Major. I was born and raised in Cicero, Illinois, a town just outside of Chicago, growing up in a Hispanic household I was born into sports, specifically futbol.
My passion carried on, and I became interested in learning the stories behind some of the most prominent players in history. As a kid, my mother would take me to the library on a regular basis, everything I checked out were biographies on players like Diego Maradona, Ronaldinho, and Pele.
The books taught me about the upbringings of these players and that they came from poverty stricken and discriminate situations as minorities, these topics interested me in learning and more and more reading, about others like Muhammad Ali, and Jackie Robinson.
I was intrigued by it all, I fell in love with sports, but looking back I realize what stuck with me most was the stories, the unique stories of each individual and sharing those stories with others.
I want to be a journalist, a sports journalist, I want to work in sports communication, combining my education and capabilities in communication and love for sports.
